I apologize in advance for this post because I does not contain a photo of Addie. Rather I thought I’d tell a rather story about her.
A few Saturdays ago (our Father+Daughter day of the week), Addie and I went downtown to our local farmers market. One of the great things about our local market is the variety of farmer–coffee bean, vegetable, fruit, and the one that caught our eye this time was the Orchid farmer. We have had an orchid once in the apartment (Phil) but he live a short life. I wheeled Addie over to the “Orchid Lady” and she picked out Penelope–a larger and more mature orchid than Phil and at this time only three blooms strong.
We surprised Mommy that day when she returned from work and Addie had taken a liking to the plant. In a week or so, Addie had added “pretty” or “preeeetee” to her vocabulary. We usually keep the door to our room (Penelope’s room) closed, but left it open in error. That day Erika walked into our room in search of Addie and found she had taken Penelope off our bedside table and had begun to drag it across the floor by its tall stalk (neck) and all the while chanting “preeetee”. It’s one of those moments where you would be mad if she wasn’t smiling soo happily, No damage was done to Penelope and she is doing more than fine; probably from all of Addie’s love and attention!
